Crown's Short Courses

Short Courses allow students to test the waters and help them make an informed decision regarding their career avenues. Crown offers Gateway and STAR programmes for secondary school students, as well as skill-based short courses targeting those who needs upskilling. These have been developed keeping in mind the most important skills and knowledge that are required by the industry. This has been ensured by actively consulting the industry and other education providers.

However, Crown’s short courses have not been created for application at work alone. They can be done simply for fun as they allow students to develop their innate skills, abilities and hobbies. All of Crown’s courses are accredited by NZQA and are delivered by experts in their respective fields. This means that completing them allows students to earn credits in a safe, fun and informative environment.

SHORT COURSES

STAR (Secondary Tertiary Alignment Resource) courses are designed for secondary students who want to learn new skills that will help them with finding a job or vocational pathway. These courses are run during the school holidays and are taught at our campus.

Gateway Courses

We offer Gateway programmes in Business and Hospitality. These courses are a great way for you to gain credits toward NCEA and to experience what it’s like to work for a successful company in these industries. It also looks great on your C.V. and may open up employment opportunities for you in the future.

TRADES ACADEMY

Trades academies are secondary-tertiary programmes that provide senior secondary students access to a broad range of trades or technology learning opportunities to ensure they stay engaged in education.  Trades academies are funded by the Ministry of Education.
