Crown Graduates Succeed!

We love hearing from our graduates who have landed jobs in travel, in hospitality establishments or other exciting businesses!

We take pride in our graduates and their individual career journey starting from their first day on the job. Whether it’s a foot in the door to gain customer service, turning their diploma into a degree or their dream role as a flight attendant; our belief in Crown's graduates shows in our willingness to help graduates to career success.

While our graduates are a diverse group who each offer their own unique combination of skills, attributes, achievements and work experience; what they all have in common is they gained their qualifications from Crown!

Trying to get a job is like auditioning for The X Factor!

At Crown Institute, our aim is to help our students stand out in the crowd! Our graduates are competing with others for the same jobs, and it’s especially competitive in the current economic climate, so it’s important for them to know how to present themselves in the best way possible.
To help our students perform at their best, we hold regular meetings with travel, hospitality and business organisations to learn more about what employers are looking for in a graduate.
At our most recent meeting, we asked the board members the following question:
“What does the ideal graduate look like?” Their answers were very encouraging.
Passion, enthusiasm, and excellent written and verbal communication are some of the attributes employers are looking for. However, what really stood out was that a graduate should show commitment to the job.
Our current advisory board members were from a wide range of organisations including Contiki, Showcase Hospitality, Massey University, Quinn Recruitment, the Restaurant Association, Salt Recruitment and Fullers.
Alex from Salt Recruitment explained that “most interviews start on the phone. So graduates need to have a script ready for when a potential employer calls them.”
To ensure our students are prepared to join the work force, Crown is now looking at incorporating mock interviews, with Showcase Hospitality bar managers, in their training.
This also allows the bar managers to practice their interview skills.
At Crown, our focus is to continually develop and enhance our programme delivery and student outcomes.
