Teej’s Disney Internship Success!

We’re excited to share the news of Teej’s successful completion of her Disney internship. Teej has wrapped up her time at Disney with flying colors, bringing back valuable experiences.

Let’s cheer for Teej’s achievements and stay tuned for a glimpse into her journey and the lessons she’s bringing back to our community!

Kia ora whanau,

When I first thought about writing this final update of my time at Disney, I was originally going to write about the theme parks and how much fun I have had on my days off. But now that my program is officially coming to an end, the only thing that I can write about is all of the friends I have made in the past 11 months.

This experience has connected me with all types of people from around the world and I have definitely made some life-long friends while living here in Florida. Working at the Jungle Cruise has introduced me to so many kind people that will be very hard to say goodbye to. Every single day these people have continued to show me what true friendship is, even when seeing me at my worst. I’ve created so many memories with these new friends that I will treasure for the rest of my life. I am incredibly lucky to have had the opportunity to make magic happen alongside such amazing people.

I will be coming home to Auckland in the middle of January. Thank you Crown for introducing this program to me. I wouldn’t have become the person I always dreamt of becoming if I had not done this.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

All the best,

Skipper Teej

An update from Walt Disney World, Florida!

An update from our Travel & Tourism graduate Teej, who is having an amazing time in on the Cultural Exchange Programme at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.  We are so proud of you Teej!

Kia ora Crown whanau,

At the beginning of February, I moved across the world to Orlando, Florida to live my dream of working at Walt Disney World. I moved into Flamingo Crossings Village which is where most of the Disney cast members live while doing the Cultural Exchange Programme or the College Programme. This place is almost like living in a resort. It has two swimming pools with huge screens, a massive gym, basketball and volleyball courts, lots of hang out areas and a huge lawn. There is a shopping centre down the road which has lots of fast food restaurants and a Target for groceries. We also have free bus transport to the four theme parks and the 32 Disney resorts, which is great because we’re able to visit the parks and resorts for free on our days off!

I have moved into an apartment with three Americans – Abbie, Chynna, and Amber – who have been really welcoming and helpful while I navigate my new home. The same day I moved in, my roommate Abbie invited me to go to Magic Kingdom with her and ride the new attraction “Tron” which is only available for cast members and is not open to the public yet. I didn’t think I’d be in one of the theme parks a few hours after moving in!

I want to say a big thank you to Crown for preparing me for this once in a lifetime experience and for encouraging me to step out of my comfort zone to do this. I still cannot believe I’m actually here!
