Trades academies are secondary-tertiary programmes that provide senior secondary students access to a broad range of trades or technology learning opportunities to ensure they stay engaged in education. Trades academies are funded by the Ministry of Education.
If you are not eligible for trades academy funding, you may like to enrol in just one or a couple of the unit standards. Please contact Amy Tregidga, Head of Student Affairs for more information and availability.
This great programme teaches the fundamentals of small business in New Zealand. Students learn how to identify business opportunities, assess its viability, and work with others to maximise the business’s potential. Students will learn to work in a team, conduct financial planning and use a range of Microsoft Office products. Soft skills such as professional, ethical and cultural behaviour, problem-solving, decision-making skills and self-management techniques with also be taught.

This programme will enable the students to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of health care concepts in supporting people to improve the quality of life and independence in various heath care settings including disability support, mental health and addiction and aged care. Students will learn about human development theory, responding to vulnerability and abuse, providing care using person centered approach to meet the holistic needs of the person supported. Students will also develop knowledge of New Zealand health and disability related regulations and the awareness of safety practices, ethical and professional responsibilities within the health care sector.
