Crown's managing director is Josephine Do

Dr. Josephine Do

Managing Director

Dr. Do, Josephine became the Managing Director of Crown Institute of Studies in 2020. She holds a Doctorate in Fine Arts, and is an internationally exhibited artist.

Before returning to Auckland in March 2017, she spent nearly 13 years at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK, formerly The Hong Kong Institute of Education), both as an academic and as a manager, heading up Community Arts Development and Engagement; and participating in Visual Arts Education Development.

Prior to her services in Hong Kong, she taught at The University of Auckland in the Undergraduate and Master of Fine Arts Programmes at the Elam School of Fine Arts, and at Manukau Institute of Technology. She completed a Postgraduate Diploma of Education at The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2009.


She is the author of several books, and was principal investigator for a number of Hong Kong Community Arts and Audience Development Projects. She received wide coverage in newspapers, magazines, radio, digital media and television on her contributions to Hong Kong Community Arts Development and Cohesion. In 2011 she was awarded The 10th China Golden Awards for Excellence in Public Relations by the China International Public Relations Association. She has also served as associate editor for The International Journal of Social, Political, and Community Agendas in the Arts (2012- 2013), The International Journal of the Arts in Society (2010), and Multicultural Education Review (2010). In 2013, Josephine Do was invited by Radio Television Hong Kong 1 to host the program “Creative Cities II” (13 episodes).

She is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors, and SKAL International New Zealand.

Anetta is the Quality Assurance Manager at Crown. Originally from Poland, Anetta has lived in New Zealand for nearly 20 years and enjoys cross-cultural communication, summers, swimming and the great outdoors.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor of Business (Management), Adult Education Level 5 Certification, MCSE, MOS, A+, N+, ITIL, PMP

Lincoln has worked in the IT industry for 26 years in systems administration and support and has been in education for 10 years including PTE and commercial learning and development.  He has made New Zealand his home for over 20 years and enjoys acting and theatre, playing with new techie gadgets, and spending time with family. 

QUALIFICATIONS: Masters in Tourism Management

Ronal is a former flight attendant and has an airline customer service background. Ronal and enjoys creative writing, acting, ice-cream, and is interested in Pasifika tourism and learning about different cultures in his spare time.

Rimpy has over 12 years of industry experience including corporate travel and sales. She also runs her own business as a travel broker. Rimpy has taught for over 6 years, both in New Zealand and in Japan, and enjoys travelling and spending time with her two children.

QUALIFICATIONS: IATA, ATITB, 30+ years industry experience

Fiona has been a travel broker for 30+ years. She still runs her travel business part time and keeps up with the latest trends in Travel and Tourism. She enjoys travelling, animals, piano and spending time with family.

QUALIFICATIONS: Master of Business Administration (Marketing), Bachelor of Education (TEFL)

Shahlo has over 12-years of experience in the aviation industry. Mainly in airline crew operations, training and revenue management. She enjoys traveling and learning about new cultures. She has traveled to over 50 different countries and still has quite a lot to explore.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor of Science, (Physiology, Psychology). Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Science.

Matt is the Short Course Leader, which includes Secondary School Gateway programmes. His background is hospitality, with around 18 years of experience. Matt enjoys wine, travelling and tramping, and is involved in conservation projects in the Waitakere Ranges.

Pearl Wilson

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor of Business, (Marketing)

Pearl is the Quality Assurance Officer at Crown, responsible for the welfare and support of our students. Pearl worked in the corporate sector for 20+ years, including as a GM and organising corporate sponsorship for large sports teams. She moved to Crown for a change of environment and finds her work with students extremely rewarding. Pearl is closely involved with her local community and has three children and five mokopuna.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor of Applied Management, Diplomas in Hospitality Management and Fashion Design.

Puretu has over 13 years of teaching and management experience and is a judge in the New Zealand Culinary Fare competition. She is closely involved in her local Pasifika community and strong supporter of Autism New Zealand.

Hope has 20+ years of hospitality experience, including working as a chef and running her own business. She has travelled the world working in Hospitality and enjoys baking and cooking in her spare time.

Anne Marie is passionate about Scottish fiddle music, and is involved with both the Auckland Youth and St Matthew’s Chamber Orchestra, and has been able to travel around the world performing. She still works part time as a travel agent.

Kate has worked for over 20 years in travel industry, including in airlines, wholesale and retail travel sectors. Kate has teaching experience from primary schools through to tertiary level courses, and loves travelling, gardening and coffee.

QUALIFICATIONS: Doctorate in Business Administration, Postgraduate Diploma in Business Informatics.

Originally from the Philippines, Caryl has worked, taught and studied internationally for over 10 years, including teaching at postgraduate level in Japan and  Philippines, and working in the corporate sector.

Irena has over 10 years of experience as an ESL tutor and also works as a structural editor for an independent New Zealand publisher. She is a mother of two and enjoys sailing, skiing and reading when she gets a chance.

Capri is the Academic Junior officer and has experience in marketing. She continues to live her life to the fullest, enjoys music and adventures with friends. She speaks fluent Maori and is closely involved in the Revolution Youth programme.

Kin oversees Administration, Public Relations, Industry partnerships and Internships. Kin has worked in education for over 10 years, in New Zealand and internationally. He loves watches, basketball, reading, travelling and clothing.

Kim is originally from Malaysia but has been a kiwi for over 30 years. She speaks 5 languages and is responsible for the finances of Crown and helping students with Studylink. She has worked for Crown for 31 years. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her grandson, swimming and badminton.

Dion is a Marketing Officer at Crown Institute, and a recent Crown graduate. She is a hip-hop dancer and spends her weekends chasing waterfalls. She is also responsible for student services and social media at Crown.

Amy is our link to high school and is the current ACATE Treasurer. She is the mother of two and enjoys gardening and helping her parents at their market garden in Clevedon. She is also the Treasurer for ACATE Auckland Careers and Transition Education Association (NZ).
