At Crown, our aim is to help you to succeed in your new career.

After talking with students and using their feedback about what they needed more of, we reintroduced career support into the classroom. Every student begins with their very own Passport to Greatness. From day one, with the help of their tutors, students can set career goals, define their strengths and weaknesses and discover their unique qualities to create CVs, cover letters and confidence!

From student and industry feedback we have also created a new position: Employment Advisor. This revised role has a new focus: to give students practical tools to help them land a part-time or full-time job. It is vital that students straight from high school gain part-time work to grow into entry-level roles in the hospitality and tourism industries. The more support we can give our students, the better the outcomes.

Elysia has come to Crown with a background in human resources and career development, working both in New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

Her role at Crown involves keeping her ear to the ground to hear what jobs are available in the industry, and to assist students in their job search. If it’s work experience, part-time work while studying, or full-time work once you have graduated from Crown, Elysia is the one to talk to.

Some of the life skills and practical tips Elysia will offer:

• Assisting you to research and find the best job role for your skills and qualities
• Showing you how to confidently write a CV including how to best write a cover letter
• Teaching you fantastic interview and confidence-building skills

Elysia’s new position will give Crown students and graduates essential life skills, so that they are are in control of their career journey.
